The last generation of Americans...

As surely as new nations rise on the ashes of those which failed to establish both unified direction and clear intent for those within its borders, so shall America fall if the current crop of soothsayers clouded by their steaming cauldrons prove to be more convincing prophets than history ...Pundits with an agenda abound for a media audience rife with discontented souls clamoring for a return to a time as yet unvisited...

With America long recognized as the beacon for those who wish for freedom of thought and purpose, Americans point with pride toward the lines of patriots and statesmen behind them who risked self-sacrifice for the opportunity to advance their nation's cause...Some fail to realize that those predecessors cut their own paths toward their goals, with the realization that true success is never visible until arrival...

Our nation's originators may have had a clearer view of that which they wished to avoid than of that which they were rushing toward...It was a time of undue hardships hacking a civilization out of wilderness, and unshared gleanings from the bounty of rich harvests taken by overseas masters...

Those early founders of our nation did not forge an empire between our shores in order to guarantee wealth for some, rather they chanced all they had acquired up to that point to grant the right of opportunity to all who followed to do the same...The belief in the right to self-direction over the tradition of rule by royalty caused the first of those who call themselves Americans to risk all they had, including life, for unborn generations to walk the same path...

As the first Americans, they did not know their own future, they only knew what they wished it not to be...Even those souls governed by greed and criminal intent understood their own livelihoods had better chance of success in a land of opportunity...The guarantee of America is not prosperity and security; it is the freedom to choose one's own way...

Many seers of the airwaves would have their followers believe that untrodden pathways lead only to pitfalls, urging a return to "simpler times" when lunch pails were full, and the security of subsistence with little chance of advancement were the only opportunities...Those with a basic grasp of economics will understand that betterment and enrichment of life go to those willing to chance failure...

The last generation of Americans will be that which is willing to trade the opportunity to choose its future in return for the promise of subsistence and an uncertain security...History rewards those who demand and get better than they are offered...

  1. I can't wait to have my 18 year old son read this, assuming I get a response it will be interesting to hear what it is. He is the definition of apolitical. I got him every other weekend so spoiled him, he's never been without. Now he's in college and the state lottery is paying for it plus he'll get money back at the end of every semester. "What's wrong with this system dad?"" What is there to worry about?"

    1. I believe we were all young and dumb at one time...Some of us, such as myself for instance, were stuck in the mire longer than others...He'll figure it out, whether you're around for the dawning, or not...
